Severn Hospice
Severn Hospice is a charity that supports and cares for people living with incurable illness in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales.
Patients come from all walks of life, and all are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Last year, the hospice signed the Armed Forces Covenant and was recently presented with Veteran Aware accreditation. It also has a team of Armed Forces champions who provide a listening ear and can signpost colleagues, patients, and their families to appropriate advice when needed. This illustrates the charity’s commitment to the Armed Forces community.
As an employer, the hospice, which this year marked its 35th anniversary, has many roles, from nursing to administrative, hospitality and retail.
Current world issues show the importance of the Armed Forces and the demands it places on its personnel. Forging a career in another industry can be daunting, but at Severn Hospice the focus is on the person: everyone matters and opinions count. The charity recognises that people have skills and talents they can bring to their role that they may have learned and developed in a former career.
Well-being for staff is at the heart of the charity and benefits include:
Private health care
In-house complementary and talking therapies
Competitive pay
Generous holiday allowances
Free car parking
Enhanced maternity leave
Home working
Flexible working
Study leave
For more than three decades, the charity has been at the heart of the community and is one of the region’s most loved and respected organisations: offering care and support at the hardest of times.
“There is certainly more to us than meets the eye,” said Samantha Bragg, head of HR.
“You may be surprised at the number of different roles and inspirational individuals there are here that collectively enable us to make such a difference to local people and their families.
“We have lots of opportunities, and while there are 100 roles, we are one big caring team.”
